The past 12 months have seen Metro making exciting plans to extend above and beyond the newspaper and metro.co.uk.  The aim is to give your brands another touch point for engaging with our Urbanite readers in a fun and exciting way!

EcoVelocity

Metro was proud to bring you EcoVelocity in September 2011 – the UK’s first low-carbon motor festival.  Set in the iconic grounds of Battersea Power Station, the four day motoring event brought to life a whole new world of motoring for prospective buyers keen to experience the latest in eco-transport.  Much more than just a car show, it proved to be a great day out!

Venture Candy

In 2010, Metro launched its first brand extension, Venture Candy - a project aimed at celebrating the urban lifestyle entrepreneur.

The competition received over 2,000 entries and hosted an extensive paper and online ad campaign to support this. The panel of judges included Richard Reed from Innocent and Sarah Beeney. There were five winners from categories including food and drink, green, design and technology, health and beauty and fashion and interiors.

Venture Candy plans to make a return in 2011, with sponsorship opportunities available for all types of brands.

Beat the Goalie

During the World Cup in June 2010, lunchtime workers were treated to a ‘Beat The Goalie’ style national roadshow.  Six different events took place up and down the country in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle.  Great prizes were won and fun was had by all that took part.  Look out for more roadshow activities available for sponsorship in the run up to the 2012 Olympics.

Urban Dating

Urban Dating is Metro’s fresh new online and event dating service for the busy city worker.  It’s already been a huge success in glamorous London locations and is now set to be rolled out across the country.  Metro is engaging readers with more dating content in the coming months and has availability for your brand to get involved.
