Overview

A massive chunk of our readers, 70% to be exact, regularly use User-Generated Content (or UGC sites as they’re more commonly known).

Metro.co.uk has joined the cult phenomenon, which has led to thousands joining our two UGC sites; MEview and MEmusic. Both are unique in allowing content creators to ‘earn by view’, ie. the more hits they get, the more money they make.

With sponsorship opportunities, viral competitions, display and pre-roll advertising, these sites offer instant access to an inventive and ‘switched on’ audience.

MEview.co.uk

MEview.co.uk allows users to upload videos that are then screened with a pre-roll advertisement, earning the creator a ‘royalty’ every time it’s watched.

MEmusic.co.uk

MEmusic.co.uk is dedicated to unsigned bands and every time a track is bought, 70% of the cash goes straight to the artist. Through MEmusic.co.uk, Metro ran the ‘Online & Ontour’ search for an unsigned act to support Dodgy on their recent tour. ENL were the overall winners, as voted by our readers, and are currently moving on to bigger and better things!

How else Metro can bring UGC sites to life for advertisers…

Back in 2008, O2 was launching Bluebook and looking for a media partner to make their target audience aware of the new service and get them using it. Metro created an uploading facility online that encouraged readers to upload the memories that they hold on their phones. A bespoke microsite and online banners drove traffic to the site that enabled us to create our first ever UGC coverwrap that consisted of a montage of our readers’ pictures.
